CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES AT SHADOW PLAY

BPM is pleased to announce that demolition is now completed and construction has commenced at landmark site, Shadow play.

December 2016

BPM has commenced construction of its most significant project to date, Shadow Play, at 105 Clarendon Street, South Melbourne.

Icon Co, the award-winning builder appointed to construct the $300 million project, has commenced construction works to complete the 46 level tower by mid 2018.

Designed by architects Elenberg Fraser with interiors by Hecker Guthrie, Shadow Play will comprise 494 one, two and three bedroom apartments, as well as 150 car parks and a 600 square metre residents-only rooftop space on level nine.

Demolition and site excavation has been completed, with the lift jump form and tower crane now erected. Structural works to the building’s core have commenced.

BPM founder and company director, Jonathan Hallinan, said the commencement of construction at Shadow Play represents a significant milestone for BPM, as it is the first high-rise residential tower to be delivered by the developer.

“I am extremely proud to see this iconic building take form over the coming months and make a prominent architectural statement on the skyline of Melbourne. As BPM’s first large scale residential tower, I feel a great sense of responsibility to deliver Shadow Play with the same quality design and construction as our smaller boutique projects.”

Mr Hallinan said Icon’s continual focus on research and innovation were a major factor in the decision to award the Shadow Play construction contract to Icon Co, whose recent shift in focus to the Tier 1 market, as well as its partnership with Japanese construction giant, Kajima Corporation, offered great alignment with BPM’s growth strategy.

“Icon’s innovative construction methods and technical ability complements BPM’s commitment to delivering world-class contemporary developments that offer an unrivalled resident experience.”

Icon Co Managing Director, Nick Brown, says: “We are thrilled to be delivering such a significant sculptured structure. Shadow Play will create a captivating and majestic tower for the city of Melbourne. BPM’s consistent commitment to quality in their design driven projects combined with Icon’s solid track record of delivering projects on time, on budget and to the highest standards is a perfect fit. From the rippling undulations in the façade to the exquisite materials and finishes, Icon is proud to deliver such a first-class building.

The defining feature of the tower will be its sculptural form containing undulations in the building skin that will reflect light to emulate movement.

Shadow Play residents will each have a digital platform that will allow them to control the apartment environment, and access exclusive retail and service offers from local partners. Amenities will include a private dining area with kitchen and lounge area, gym, spa, steam room, bubble pool, barbeque and sun bathing, as well as a rooftop area with reflective tree pods.

Shadow Play launched to market in February 2015 and is 95 percent sold. BPM has recently released its final offering of penthouse apartments on levels 43 and 44, starting from $1.09 million for a three bedroom apartment.
